A Steady, Calm Flame

This is the sweet spot. A steady flame usually means the candle is burning correctly, the air is still, and the energy in the room feels balanced. If you’ve lit a candle with intention, a steady burn can feel like a quiet yes — like what you set down has been received.

A Dancing, Flickering Flame

Movement means energy — or just a draft. Fair warning, always check the mundane explanation first (it’s usually the right one). But if there are no drafts and the flame is still dancing, some people read that as energy moving around your intention. It’s not a bad sign. It’s a sign of change.

A Very Tall Flame

A high flame means the candle’s energy is strong. The wick might need trimming — that’s the practical answer. The spiritual read is that whatever intention you set is carrying some real force. Either way, keep an eye on it — a flame that’s too tall can cause the jar to overheat.

A Low, Weak Flame

The wick might be drowning in melted wax, or the candle could be nearing the end of its life. On the practical side, try pouring out a bit of excess wax. On the other side — some people feel a low flame can point to resistance, either within you or within the situation you’re working on. I’ve found it’s worth being patient with it.

A Flame That Goes Out

Maybe not yet. Maybe the timing isn’t right, or maybe the approach needs to shift. I’d sit with it for a moment before relighting. Sometimes the flame seems to know something before we do.
